For those of you who may not be aware, next week I am scheduled for some routine, outpatient surgery.  As a result, I may not be able to sew for a couple of weeks.  I am taking this oppurtunity to clean out my closets, so to speak, and mark down some inventory that has been around for a little while.

All Da'Carry Baby Carriers left in stock have been discounted.  They ship free, so order one for an expecting friend!  If you do not see what you are looking for, let me know what would work for you, and I will get you set up for a custom order.  Those will also ship free, so long as Mom's due date is before Jun, 2010.

I am putting together my Live Action Role Playing costuming orders; games that are currently on hiatus start back up in just a couple of months.  Now would be the time to get your requests in, especially if you are looking for a larger item such as a new coat or heavy cloak.

And Faire people, don't think you have much time to think about things; the 2010 season is right around the corner.  Do you really want to be seen in last year's rags?

To talk to me about any of your costuming (big people, little people, or people-yet-to-be), you can send me an e-mail, call me, or just make good use of that contact me link over there.

As some of you may remember, in April of this year I fell and broke my left shoulder.  After five months, it was still bothering me, especially after working for a few hours.  I went back to the specialist and, after a few tests, learned I have a spur impinging on the tendon.  Back to physical therapy I went. My PT is wonderful, but I was supposed to stay away the sewing machine until this week.  When I didn't, I suffered for it (although did manage to finish a lovely outfit, as well as a red cape).

I am nearly finished this round of therapy; my evaluation is next week.  At that point the specialist will decide what we will do next.  Meanwhile, I can work in twenty-minute intervals.  With that in mind, I have managed to finish a couple more beautiful projects: a purple bodice and a green demi-corset.

The cape and the bodice are available for sale.  The demi-corset will be shipped this week, while the other outfit has already been delivered.

I will have more photographs up in the gallery soon.  Meanwhile, isn't the demi-corset pretty?

At the request of a friend, I am taking the leap into the baby-business. My first projects are designer front-carriers.  They tie at the waist and, after crossing the back, around the front.  There are some great photos over in the gallery to show you what I mean.

THappy Mom & Baby wearing Da'Carry in Pink Denim/Tattoo Skullshe woman is my friend Lynne.  She asked for the tattoo/skulls fabric.  I happen to know that her favorite color is pink, which is why her straps are made from pink denim.

Sleeping child in Turquoise Da'CarryThe second one that she is modeling exists only because I adored the color combination and decided it simply had to exist.  She loved it too, and now it belongs to her.

I have a pin-stripe version on the bench right now, and several other color combinations ready to go. If you are interested in one of these for yourself, or for a friend (they make an excellent gift), send me a note or just call me.

I have been pretty busy the last few months.  Unfortunately, I have not had much time for sewing!!

In December of 2008, my husband and I purchased a home in Fairfax, Virginia.  One of the deciding factors for our purchase was the enormous finished basement. Fully one half of this basement, over 800 square feet, is now dedicated to my sewing business.  I now have a dedicated office, a private bathroom/changing area, and a studio space large enough to teach in.

In January and February of 2009, I spent a lot of time researching the requirements for starting a business in Fairfax City, Virginia.  I planned to have dotted my "I"s and crossed my "T"s, for the first of April.  Shelves were installed, most of my fabric was organized, and tables were purchased. Nearly all of my machines (including my most recently acquired working antiques) were made ready to use.

In March of 2008, I repainted the bathroom, made new curtains, printed my business cards, got my paperwork together and looked at what I would need to do for the private entrance. I decided to wait on that until the rest of the back landscaping, unless the front door is out of the question.  Ready to move forward, I headed into the month of April.
